The Lagerstroemia indica ‘Pink Valor’ is a versatile medium-sized plant that can function as either a shrub or a low deciduous tree, reaching heights of 3-6 meters depending on the variety. It features a robust trunk with smooth, peeling bark in shades of brown, reddish, and gray, reminiscent of eucalyptus or guava. During fall, the trunk’s color and the ripe fruits enhance the garden’s aesthetic. The tree typically has an oval-rounded shape, with a diameter of 2-4 meters, and vigorous, upright stems.

The mature foliage is usually a fresh green, but some varieties display darker, burgundy-black leaves akin to the Pissarid plum. Lagerstroemia indica is renowned for its vibrant fall colors, ranging from yellow to orange, red, and even purple.

‘Pink Valor’ blooms at the end of winter, around March, with flowering extending from late spring to early summer (approximately May) and continuing in waves until the end of summer (August-September). The tree produces terminal inflorescences in clusters at the branch tips, with each cluster potentially featuring dozens of flowers.

This variety is especially popular for its striking bright fuchsia pink flower clusters and can produce up to three waves of blooming per season, with the initial wave being the most spectacular. To promote robust flowering throughout the season, it is advisable to prune flower buds post-bloom. ‘Pink Valor’ is recognized for its rich, dark green foliage with hints of burgundy, particularly noticeable on stems and new growth.

At our nursery, we propagate ‘Pink Valor’ through cuttings to minimize maintenance and avoid additional suppression of growth. This variety is highly sought after for its impressive floral display and its ability to thrive in various settings.
